When we came here we thought we’d just be eating Thai food. Totally incorrect.
On most days, we eat Thai. There are lots of amazing Thai dishes. Phuket is the most expensive part of Thailand and an amazing local Thai dish still only costs 50 baht.
But what we didn’t factor into our expectations was that tons of Europeans move here to retire. Some just enjoy themselves and the beach but many start restaurants and bring their authentic Italian or German dishes to Phuket!!
About 250 baht ($8.30 USD) buys an amazing authentic Italian pizza. My favorite so far might be the four cheese, prosciutto ham pizza. The runner up is a mushroom, artichoke, and ham. There are endless great options though.
And the pizza is more authentic than what we could get back home. But it’s not just Italians who move to Phuket to start restaurants. We’ve got Germans too!
You can get handmade German sausage over sour kraut (above). You can get bratwurst. Pretty much all the famous German dishes. The German chef also puts out a Hungarian Goulash that people rave about.
There’s a very nice French place that we’ve yet to try but certainly will be testing out soon. We did come across a big serving of Creme Brûlée for 90 baht.
We have also been recommended to try a few steak places. Many places import the steak from Australia. When we do try a steak I will likely go to one of the places that imports their steak from New Zealand. I’ve heard rumors that their steak is especially good.
